Mac OSX 10.4.11

Specs: Macintosh OSX 10.4.11
Until recently I've had no issues with my computer recognizing, my Canon, Canoscan 8600F scanner the scanner powers up fine. While trying to import the scanner to Photoshop Elements 4. I get an error message stating "Can't find Scanner" The scanner lights up and sounds as if its ready to scan. I've checked the cables all seem to be fine. Could there be an error message in amongst what ever in Photoshop or some place else I can dump, this may be what is not allowing my computer to recognize my scanner, or I may just be ignorant. To be honest, I'm not sure exactly what is going on... as through the years, I have only worked on a few Canon devices. However, what I would recommend is that if it did work, and is not working anymore, check if you have changed any settings on either the computer, the scanning program, or scanner that may have been modified. Otherwise, shut down the computer.

We'll also try some basic computer troubleshooting if you don't believe that's what it is. Unplug the scanner power and connection cables. Hold down the power button for about 30 seconds. Turn on your Mac, and immediately after the chime, hold down Command+Option+P+R on your keyboard. Wait for four more chimes, and let go. You may need to reset your Mac's date and time settings after this. When your Mac finally boots up, shut it down again.

Now, plug in your scanner. You can then turn your Mac on, and turn on the scanner once you are logged in. Everything should work. If this still does not work, try reinstalling the Canon software or printer driver.
