Mac OS X LION Install

Specs: Lion
My Macbook pro (late 2008) won't boot up. I try to re-install mac OS X Lion but it's telling me that I need an additional 1.9 Gb of disc space and to try removing some items to make space. I don't know how to do that when I can't get access to my files to transfer items to an external hard drive!? Any suggestions please?

mmm… Have assorted Macs but fortunately not been in your situation (hopefully never will).

You might also check out O'Reillys "Missing Manual series" re' assorted Mac OS…; seem to recall there's one for each generation of OSX - at least from Snow Leopard onwards… This link may give you some ideas to start with.

I found it via a google trawl/search using:

macbook pro 2008 how to access HD when it won't boot up

as the search term/string.

Suggest you do the same (with the above "string") and scroll down a little. Lots of other help about this problem on the first of many pages there…

Incidentally I'm not sure your model is really up for Mountain Lion? Might be wise(r) to check both with Apple techies and and the Apple web forums and user groups?

Have you tried starting in safe mode? If not it's worth a go.
