Specs: Macintosh
just bought a 17" PowerBook G4 (1.2)

the model before Intel.

i also bought the same day a 15" iBook G4

both have the same operational system.

My iMac, and the iBook read all my extra HD and key cards.

however despite updating software,
my 17" PowerBook will not read/acknowledge/see my 500gb external HD!

one of them i even formatted to match it exactly is still not being read...much to my shagrin.
it DOES read the small key cards...but not the 500gb HDs....???

i am assuming its a hardware issue?

do i take it in?

First of all, the size of the disks you are connecting may not be supported by your model or OS X. Most drivers for newer solid state and external hard drives were not implemented yet in earlier versions of OS X, and therefore the devices may not mount.

You can, however, try to open Disk Utility and format a volume to be usable by OS X in the MS-DOS (FAT32) format. I hope this helps you solve your problem.
