mac can't see Pluscom 2.5 sata usb Hdd enclos

October 11, 2011 at 07:46:52
Specs: Macintosh 10.6.7, Quad Core Intel Xeon
Local PC shop transferred my daughters hard drive from her broken PC (cracked motherboard) to a Pluscom 2.5" SATA to USB HDD Enclosure.

I have plugged this device into wifes PC running Vista and my Intel Desktop Mac but cannot see the device. On the mac I have looked for the external hardrive via the Disk Utility on the mac but no sign of it there. On the PC, it sees it as external storage but I cannot open it.

As I understood it was just a matter of plugging in the usb device and it would be visible to the right of the desktop. Help.

Hi.

Managed to solve this problem by myself. I unscrewed the caddie enclosure. The hardrive from the laptop had not been pushed in far enough into the device and therefore no connection. This is why both the Mac and Pc’s were not seeing it. Sloppy work by the PC shop as they should have tested the device before they gave it back to my wife. This experience might be of help:)
