JOBD or Drobo or Raid for RAW Photo backup?

Specs: Macintosh
how many Lacie 1T drives is it safe to ddaisy chain lwith mac? I have 2 1T and 1 Raid. The 1T is connected to my 2008 imac osx1.6.8 via 800Firewire, that 1T is daisychained to 1T with USB3 and that one is daisy chained via usb3 to 2T Raid.
all Lacie drives.
I do alot of RAW photography. This is slow. Would I be better off with different backup system?

Full USB connectivity is lost with a main firewire connection, so you are probably seeing a reduction in speeds right there. As for the "...to 2T Raid" I am a bit lost.

RAID stands for Redundant Array of Independent Discs. This means that multiple discs are combined into a single logical unit...

For your actual questions:

How many LaCie 1T can you safely daisy chain with a mac? - More than you have. Numbers reach the high double digits.

Would I be better off with a different backup system? - Depends on exactly what you want from your overall backup solution! Daisy chained drives are very slow and not very reliable.
