You don't need to register to use Chrome; you simply download the browser and, install it - and that's it...

Just be very careful "not" to sign up to anything; to install anything other than the browser. Chrome like many utilities tries to persuade you to do a fast/automatic "recommended" installation - which one ought never to do. Choose instead to "custom install" and carefully deselect (uncheck/decline) "any options offered; which typically try to set this or that as your default home page, and whatever...

Even then it will try to install something or other; note carefully what is says it has installed and get rid of it by add/remove programmes in windows. Or if not sure.. post here for assistance to get rid of whatever it is...

However there is another browser somewhat similar to Chrome (based on the same open source software apparently) - but seemingly without all the back ground junk that comes with Chrome.

I'm currently using it; not the least to access computing.net... Prefer it to Chrome.

Perhaps consider it in place of your choice of Chrome...
