how to put the ask.com alias on the desktop?

Specs: Macintosh OS 10.6.7
My previous Mac had ask.com on the desktop. In transferring data to new computer, the ask.com icon didn't transfer over. I forgot how to do it.

Open a browser and go to ask.com. Highlight the text in the url bar and drag and drop to the desktop.

This is called a web location clipping (extension .webloc), and Golfer is indeed correct. You can then drag this to the dock if you wish. The last thing I'd like to remind you (is just for fun) you can open the file, and change the XML values that are inside, if you're feeling a little bored.
