Try dragging the files like you would normally to the new drive, except before you drop the files in the window or on the icon, start holding down the Option key. You should notice the pointer change to a + badge underneath it. Keep holding the Option key, and drop the files on the icon or in the window. Let go of Option. If you are asked to authenticate, type in your password and click OK (or press return). Your files should be copying to the drive successfully.

You should be done.

To further troubleshoot, if the drive refuses to cooperate with you using the method listed, is that if the drive is formatted as NTFS, your Mac might just have troubles with it. Hold down the command key and press the spacebar. Let go of the keys, and type in disk util. Use your down arrow key to highlight Disk Utility if necessary, and press return to open it.

In Disk Utility, find your LACIE device or partition in the drive list pane on the left. Click the Erase tab, and reformat it as "MS-DOS File System" from the Volume Format drop-down list. Click Erase, and in the sheet that appears, click Erase again.

I hope this response was accurate and satisfactory to your question.
