How to make Unix EF to PageMaker7

November 5, 2018 at 10:17:31
Specs: Mac OS 10.3.9
My PowerMac is not connected with the internet. Somehow, a file for a book done in PageMaker7 suddenly became a Unix Executable File. I would like to restore that file to being a PageMaker7 file (or even an InDesign file).

Can you make a copy of the file in question? If so then make one and then see if simply changing the file type (the suffix) - on the copy not the original - to what s was before resolves the issue?

Mac usually lacks suffixes after file names. I am thus unable, to add one, to represent a PageMaker file. Thank you for your suggestion. I know that some people have tried that, with image files, or with text files, but a PageMaker file, is a prototype InDesign file, which handles both text and image, for printing.

All my files on my Mac systems have a suffix of some form or other; be it doc, docx xls, jpeg, pdf and so on... Each of course created by the application or utility which created the file.

I dun a google trawl (using the string - convert unix exe file to pagemaker) the results of which I have linked here:

Makes interesting reading as it seems the situation you describe is not uncommon event...

See if there is any useful resolution amongst the results of that google trawl?
