Specs: Macintosh
Am running Mac O/SX Yosemite - suddenly I have ASK as default search. Have gone to Firefox Preferences and selected Google as the default Search - ASK still comes up. When in and removed ASK. It still comes up. Suggestions? Also elevator scrolling is no longer there.

Firefox made a change a little while ago. Even though we chose a default search engine, it added a new search hierarchy. If you click on the left edge of the search bar you will get the search options or a change search settings option. You will need to both reselect your default search engine here, and uncheck all other search engines if you want the defaults to only use the one choice without fail (though you can leave others if you like). If you use say Google, make sure that you uncheck at least the other major ones like Bing, Yahoo, Ask, etc or they will keep annoying you.
Doing this will give you back the same feel you are comfortable with.
Just to play it safe though, check the add ons for any mention of ASK, if you see it there then disable it there and look in Programs to uninstall ASK fro your system.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
