How fix Safari cannot establish secure connection to servers

How can I fix the problem I have Safari cannot establish a secure connection with servers so I cannot even download another browser.

This is a long shot, but having had a similar problem occasionally, I pass it on as it may be what ails...

Top left corner of screen - Apple logo; click on it and go to Preferences. Then open Networking. Click on the advanced box and you get a series of tabs. Go to the Proxies tab and check that in the column on the left - which lists proxies... - that none of them are checked.

Normally (by default) none of those proxy boxes are ticked... If you have to clear/uncheck anything in that list, then ensure you apply and save the changes as you close out of Preferences.

Incidentally (once the current problem is resolved) it would be wise to have a second browser installed - just in-case you have the situation you have now. I have Firefox installed as well ss the default Safari. I don't use Chrome...

The other thing to try is to smp,y reboot your router. Power it down, and remve the power cord. Wait a minute or two and power it up again. The try Safari.

I'd try the router reboot (as as immediately above) first.
