Specs: Mac 7.1
I have an Apple powerbook 230 duo. At some stage o/s 7.1? was installed and it won't run on this machine. I don't have access to another Mac and I can't find a way to load the 19 disks of 7.5. The 7.5 network access disk does not work. I get the message This start up disk will not work with this systemIs there any way to fix this problem please?

Yes. You need to go to Apple Support here: Older Software Downloads. Note that System Software (Mac OS) 7.5 is not public domain, and is still copyrighted--which means it is available from Apple for free to download for your Mac for your own personal use only as per the Apple SLA.

With that said, you will need Windows XP, Vista, or 7, if you do not have a Mac. These instructions will assume so.

You will then need to grab a copy of RaWrite. I'll provide a direct download link here: Download RaWrite link. Unzip the folder by double-clicking it, and by clicking Extract all files. Follow the instructions that appear. You will also need Mini vMac. The project page where you can download that is here: Mini vMac homepage. You will then need to emulate a Mac using this software, then use RaWrite to write the Mac image to the diskettes. I fixed a Macintosh Classic by using a method similar to this.

I hope this helps you. It is, at least, very confusing, because these Macs aren't made anymore, but you can still work with them. If you have questions, I'd be more than glad to help further, as these instructions don't even begin to skim the details you'll need to complete your project. Good luck with your Mac. If this did help you, please give it a thumbs-up.
