I haven't heard any 4.2 GB limit on Superdrives from Apple and the first thing you may need to check is your Mac Mini's specifications. See if this is a limitation on the specific Superdrive model and system configuration you have. If this is not a limitation it could either be solved with an update or a firmware update from Apple if available. Check on "Software Update" from the Apple menu and make sure you have the latest Apple updates installed.

Also, a bit silly suggestion from me and I don't know which software you are using to burn your disks but check that your software setting is not fixed with a particular capacity.

And my last suggestion is even you use a 4.7 blank DVD it will give you 4.3 GBs for your files. The remaining space is used for disk formatting. I hope I helped a bit.

As said above, sounds to me like it's just the formatted size.

PowerMac 9600(1 ghz G4)
512mb RAM
50gb SCSI
ATi 9200 PCI

I finally talked with apple and the person I talked to didn't even
know they made 4.7 blanks. I use Idvd to burn with. It only
offers 4.2. so I have to assume apple has its limitations. I did
hear that you can use 4.7 with snow leopard. ( which I don't
use); thanks for responding to my question, I really appreciate
it.
