Do a fsck -f -y command as Darwin indicates. It is possible that OS X is booting in Safe Mode. You may have shut down improperly, or did not ground yourself properly before you started the "operation". :) fsck is short for "filesystem check" and it will go through and check the filesystem to fix any bad spots in the disk. Another possibility is to use the "diskutil" command. If you do not know what you're doing, you can get a quick tutorial by using "man diskutil".

You can also start the rc script to try and start normally to continue to boot process of OS X. If these methods do not help you recover from any errors, your installation of OS X has been corrupted, in which case you will need to do an Archive & Install of OS X. If you have any questions on this, please post back.

Glad to help you. If the answer given was helpful to you, please give it a thumbs up. If you have more questions, please feel free to post back.
