Epson Stylus NX420 power light flashes on/off

August 20, 2011 at 11:24:07
Specs: Macintosh OX 10.5.8
I just re-installed the printer software and was able to complete installation successfully. It printed out the "Congratulations" note just fine. Next, I went to open up an e-mail to print. The printer ON light just flashes and the status says, "Printing". But nothing is printing. Tried to open up other documents and spreadsheets to print, and experiencing same problem.

I have a Mac OS X 10.5.8.

This happens occasionally. One moment it is printing just fine. The next time it doesn't do anything.

Has anyone experienced this before? Please help.

Hello and welcome to Computing.net!

There are several reasons which may be contributing to your problem. One may be defective hardware, or that a certain component may be initializing improperly. See if connecting it to another computer causes the same problem to result if possible. A second reason may be an issue with the printer drivers included with OS X if several are installed and conflicting at one time--if possible, do an Archive & Install of OS X to resolve this issue. Also, if the printer is jammed, check for any possible paper or mechanical jams inside the machine. Finally, note if your printer queue is full--if so, cancel and purge all current jobs to start the printer's memory off on a clean slate.

If none of these solutions work, see if your printer is still under warranty, and contact Epson for service or support with this issue.

I hope this solution to this issue was satisfactory; thank you for posting--it has been a pleasure to assist you.
