Downloading anything such as RAR unzipper or MP3's I only get a DOS document.
You might want to explain what you mean by 'dos document'. And if this is happening on a mac you should probably post in the mac forum.
Go to your downloads folder, click on one of the files in question and then go to Finder's File menu...click on "Get Info." On the pane that shows up, look for a drop down box that says "Open With" or something like that (sorry I'm on a Windoze PC right now so I'm working by memory). You should then be able to choose an application (such as RarX or iTunes) to open the file. This **should** (as long as Finder plays nicely) make it so that when you open .rar or .mp3 files in their appropriate programs.
Best of luck!
Addendum to my earlier post: When you say "Rar Unzipper" do you mean a program to unzip rars? If so, make extra sure that you are downloading a Mac version...because if you "accidentally" downloaded a version for a different operating system, mac OS often treats those as "Unix" files which will open a terminal window and usually does nothing else.....
Thanks for your help. I can't find the Downloads folder as it vanished while I was trying to use it a few weeks ago. I can download but the folder is not accessible for me to look through. I will try to locate it and then give your suggestion a go. Thanks again!
