Yes. What happens when you press Cmd-Opt-Esc? This should allow you to see what is currently running. Did this happen after installing new software, hardware, or have there been any strange symptoms (clicking, whirring, LED light flashing, apps slowing to a crawl recently, etc.)?

I highly understand you are concerned about your little machine right now, however, could you kindly help me help you by providing details such as the ones described above, and the affected machine's model/make? I really do appreciate providing 10.5.8, and that it's an Intel in your description--this certainly helps, and is appreciated.

Thank you for visiting the Computing.net forum! I'll be keeping tabs on any info you can provide, and either I or another poster will assist you from there. :)
