Can't play my dvd-r on my imac

April 27, 2011 at 19:27:12
Specs: Macintosh
I was trying to play some dvd-r discs that have recorded music on them but when I put them in my iMac my mac doesn't respond to the discs. It doesn't ask if I want to import the songs as it should. Any help with this would be appreciated.

It sounds to me like you burned a data disc--not a regular DVD. Make a folder, titled, say Songs, then open the DVD from the Desktop. Drag the music on the DVD to the "Songs" folder, or whatever you named it. Check if the songs play in QuickTime.

Thanks for posting on Computing.net! Let me know if you need more assistance.

Thanks so much. This works. I found that the dvd-r shows up on my desktop as a disc icon and I have to open it and drag the songs into the folder or into iTunes, a lot more work than just importing the songs but at least I got the music off the disc. I appreciate your help!
