I use outlook on my Mac. My designer is forwarding embedded images from emails she has and or is attaching pdf and or jpgs to her emails to send to me but they show up as winmail.dat and I can't open them.

winmail.dat files are actually not images, they are Microsoft's way of sending emails in rich text format...normally translated into things like underline, bold, etc by Windows email programs. Best thing to do would be to have your sender switch to HTML or Plain text format when sending you emails...they can then do file attachments which will be sent as "traditional" attachments rather than embedded attachments.
