Cannot print to PDF

Hi, I have a MAC OS X 10.4.11, and use Adobe Professional 7......I have always been able to print to PDF using Illustrator/Indesign/PhotoShop etc, but now all of a sudden I can't! If I go into printers, I can see the jobs listed but it says the printer has been stopped. If I press start, it acts like it might print, but then it stops again. I would reload Adobe Professional to see if that resolves the issue, however for some strange reason, its not accepting my password (the one I have had for 6 years)! Can anyone help?

Hi there,

Do you mean "print a PDF" rather than "print to PDF" because they are different scenarios entirely.

Printing a PDF should be the usual process of printing any document. If you have troubles with this and only when printing from Adobe Professional, then you should probably contact Adobe support or view their forums at

If you are having troubles printing _to_ a PDF, then that's strange indeed. I've personally never seen that fail unless you are trying to write to a directory where you don't have the necessary permissions. This should be a simple process of printing but then hitting the Save to PDF button instead and it will then prompt you to save a PDF file somewhere on your hard disk.

Please confirm though which one of those two scenarios is correct and it might help us help you further. We are assuming you having troubles with the first scenario.

No, its scenario 2.......we never used to have issues with printing to PDF, but now it sends the job to the PDF Printer, which shows it to start processing, then it stops and the status of the printer says it is stopped, so if you tell it to start again, it shows the bar that says its starting to process it again, then it stops AGAIN! Its so frustrating!

I have Lotus Smart Suite and using the approach program. It is a database program that allows you to make worksheet forms, list, etc. I have a worksheet that I need to be converted to a PDF so I can email to co-workers and usually I can choose my pdf program and it has me save with another name it just gives me an error message and then closes the program. I contacted IBM to see if they had a solution.... needless to say, no help what so ever. The crazy thing is, I used to be able to do it. ?????
