Camera and Mac computer do not seem to be working together

Specs: Macintosh OS X 10.8.5 (12F45), Memory = 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

I have the Mini DV-D016H but it is not working/recognizing my Mac. Is this type of item only for PC computers? The Mini has been on charge all night but still blinking. Manual is not that helpful.

According to this online manual, there are no drivers for a Mac. Plus it looks like a real piece of crap. Get your money back if you can.
