Bootcamp Vista to Mac problem

I have a huge problem with Bootcamp on my mac. I installed vista from my mac's bootcamp. Then when Vista finished installing and opened, I realised bootcamp couldnt work with vista. So I wanted to go back on my mac, but I don't know how, it looks like I'm stuck in windows vista. I tried restarting my computer many times many ways, nothing worked. If I put the Mac OS X install dvd and install it, will I loose all my files I had on the harddisk of my mac ?

In a way, yes. You will lose all of your personalized settings and programs and such, but unless if you reformat the drive, all of your files will still be there. I don't know if OS X installation automatically reformats, so I would wait for now to reinstall.

One question I would have is, from what you wrote it doesn't sound like you overwrote your Mac OS X partition. You can try this to verify: Power on your mac and hold down the "Alt" key on your keyboard (when the grey screen comes up before where you normally see the grey Apple logo). This will bring up all of the bootable options on your computer -- if you see a "Macintosh HD" (or whatever you called your Mac's partition), select that and you will boot into Mac OS X.

If that works, you can open Bootcamp assistant and remove the Vista parition without harming your Mac OS X files (it also reclaims the space used by Vista as part of your Mac partition...so you get your drive space back).

Addendum: BTW, Bootcamp should work with XP, Vista, or 7...so I'm wondering if you need to download a more recent version of Bootcamp from Apple's website? That is, if you want to continue your endeavors to bootcamp with Vista.

Best of luck! :)
