Backup B4 OS Upgrade ??

Macintosh / G5 1.8 powerpc
March 29, 2010 at 22:39:44
Specs: OS X 10.3.9, 1 GB
Will be upgrading a G5 1.8 PowerPC from 10.3.9 to 10.5.

Am not that familiar with Macs...but really like them.

I would like to do a fresh install of the OS rather than an Upgrade...however....I am worried about something going wrong....and needing to roll back.

Do Macs have any type of backup or disk imaging tools built in with which I could create some sort of whole system backup....that could be used to do a total restore....if needed?

Thanks

Well I'm a big fan of "dd", but its use isn't for the faint of heart.

Thanks for that info on the Mac DD Backup.

I ended up skipping the Upgrade (for now)...but may very well need it in the future.

This looks like this may also be able to serve as a good general (extremely thorough) backup tool for Mac.

Thanks
