All of a sudden I'm getting pop-ups on my mac

April 9, 2011 at 08:38:00
Specs: Macintosh 10.6, 2g OX
In the middle of a web page I'll get a pop-up window that I have to stop and delete in order to
continue. This is a new occurance, in the last 4 weeks. I didn't know I needed a pop-up blocker on my mac.

Actually, I believe you are meaning that you have to close the window before you continue. I'm not sure what browser you use, need, or prefer, but I will tell you that you need Firefox 2 or greater, or Safari 2 or greater for most of these pop-ups to go away.

- In Safari, if not enabled by default, press Cmd+K, or in the Safari menu, click Block Pop-Up Windows to enable pop-up blocking in Safari.

- In Firefox, if not enabled by default, in the Firefox menu, go to Preferences. Go to Content. Check off "Block pop-up windows." Click OK.

On either of these, if you have exceptions listed, this can also be a problem. Try to limit any exceptions you may have added to pop-up rules. If these are a result of bad e-mails, try improving junk filtering rules within Mail.

I sincerely hope this solves the annoying pop-up issue. If not, please feel free to ask any more questions. If you found this helpful, please give it a thumbs up.
