iMac 24 and 21 (network)
OSX 10.8.2At sometime all my folders and files have become locked and I am unable to unlock them. I have repaired permissions, checked get info and the locked box is unchecked and I can read and write.
When I click on the padlock it unlocks but after closing and reopening get info it is locked again. Some software (disktracker) requires files be unlocked.
Suggestions???
Additional info. Newly created folders/files are also automatically locked and cannot be unlocked.
Open up terminal and SU chmod 777 "volume"
Haven't used terminal therefore I have no idea what all that means.
You haven't by any change used any mac clean up utilities, or fix it apps?
I used the Mac utilities to repair permissions and I regularly (monthly) use DiskWarrior.
Like the built in "disc utility" or "Mac Utilities 2011"
It say it is ver. 13 and is found in the utilities folder installed by OSX.
I have read your reference to using the terminal. However, it looks like I would have to do this with each and ever folder/file that I have or will create. That looks like an enormous amount of work/time.
