Adobe Reader (on Mac OSX) won't open web pdfs

May 11, 2011 at 04:41:37
Specs: Macintosh 10.5.8, Intel Core 2 Duo
This seems to be a problem with Safari 5.05, but not Firefox 3.5.3. For Safari I have deselected and reselected 'open pdfs on web' in Adobe preferences. I have deleted and reloaded Adobe Reader X AND Adobe Reader 9.4. Using Safari 5.0.5 I can open pdfs on my desktop via Adobe file open command, but pdfs on Safari 5.0.5 browser still come up with a black screen.

All works OK with Firefox 3.5.3.

You don't actually need any Adobe software to open PDFs in OSX, it has PDF reading built into it.

Have you tried uninstalling Adobe Reader and then attempting to open some of these files?
