My 2009 Mac desktop computer has a grey screen with a little lock icon in the middle I haven’t used it since high school, and idk what to do to get rid of it or mabye reset it completely some how, I need help please and thank you!

If there is a white letter-box shaped box beneath the lock icon, it's waiting for you to enter the password which you set when you were at high school.

Without the password you can't get any further.

What happens if you press and hold the "option" key immediately after you hear the "chime" sound as you boot up the Mac from cold?

In response to the initial post - the solution is openly out there in Mac and Apple support forums.

Simply google using

forgotten my password for Mac desktop

and it will bring up the the official Apple methods and also similar from a well regarded Mac forum.
