Hey, I'm getting interested in writing a minimal linux kernel, and I'm looking for a challenge. I'm not new to linux, so I am aware that the kernel is the base of the operating system, and I would like some free (FREE) tutorials about writing a linux kernel from scratch. Please post some.

Thnx,

Not sure you can write a linux kernel from scratch. You can take the source for an existing kernel and build it as you need or like.

http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbo...
http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/compi...
http://www.howtoforge.com/kernel_co...

Maybe a thousand more.

Or you can make your own one of a kind kernel.

See also http://www.menuetos.net/ if you want to write it in assembly.

Those links helped, but yeah, ur right. It would probably better to just modify the kernel and write my own shell. Thnx.
