Specs: Linux i686 Mandriva, 2 gb
got this wireless router from bell. I can connect to it with the wep password but i cant access very many web pages. I think its a gateway 2wire. On the other hand the windows computers work just fine. And it does it on other linux distros as well. not work i mean. It comes up like script blocking. Looked through the router couldnt find anything. Ever heard of this? I heard if you plug the router into the laptop and restart both of them, it'll start working. anyone know if this is true? Its not my system so i have limited access to it.

Is the ip address of the computer in question of the same range as the routers ip address?

At the console prompt, type in ifconfig.
If you have limited access to that computer, you might not have the right, to run ifconfig, to get the ip configuration listed.

good question. i actually never thought to look at that, the subnet and stuff. The ip address was the same i think.
well it's not that i have limited access, like root privilage. Limited physical access. Thanks though ill deff check the ip addresses. Its actually the only reason linux isnt used soley on that computer. also, could this just be like a new security feature isp's have added to their routers?

If it's possible to access internet with other computers and other linux distros, there is no hint on any restriction from ISP side.
Is this machine connected wired or wirelessly?
If it's wirelessly, check, whether there is configured MAC address filter in the router.
