why tf fdisk is bad

Specs: rhel 6.1
created ext3 partition on empty disk /dev/sdc. using linux shell fdisk command. -n to create primary partition and exit with -w command.
Before exiting fdisk says /dev/sdc1 is created as a result.
use mount -t ext4 /dev/sdc1 /mnt.

it says invalid parition table on /dev/sdc and can not find ext3 partition on /dev/sdc1. is like that. fdisk ships with every distro how such a common tool fails like this?

this is one the many reason i hate linux.

If you make a new partition don't you have to format it ext3 before you can use it?

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
