unable to mount location... location cannot be found

Specs: Linux x86_64
i have a secondary 800gb partition on my pc with windows.. recently i started using mint 14... but i cannot access any file from the windows partition... even worse i dont have the option to chose to boot windows anymore... whenever i try to mount the partition using

sudo mount /dev/sda2 /media/sda2

i get an error stating the media does not exist

Try the command "fdisk -l" without quotes to figure out the correct partition.
Maybe the /dev/sda2 is incorrect.

says does not exist... but in computer is showing a drive with the 800gb i have on windows.. if i get you in log me in or anything similar would you help me_

It would be more constructive if you repeated the exact error message that you are getting. Is it saying that "/dev/sda2" doesn't exist" or "/media/sda2"? Have you checked that the directory "/media" and exists? What about "/media/sda2"? If they do exist, what are the permissions on them?

How did you go about installing Mint? And how is it that Windows is on the 2ndary partition? Assuming you didn't overwrite Windows, we need to know the version (XP, Win7, Win8) to help fix the bootloader. On a side note, why is it that you don't have back ups of your thesis? Kind of important, don't you think?
