I run the latest Ubuntu 11.10 but I cannot see my Acer f-20 flatscreen anynore, it is attached to my laptop

You don't need a monitor driver, you need to install Linux driver for the graphics adapter inside your PC.

pip22 is correct that the normal issue is the video adapter driver.

Be sure to boot to live cd and see what works. If it works in live cd it should still work in normal install.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
