Solved ubuntu 12.04 install with disc on xp laptop old as hell

Specs: linux 12.04, 700m ram 2ghz cpu
installing linux 12.04 on old compu ... its windows xp from 2001 itsold and slow i add 700m more of ram which helped alot but whe i try to install 12.04 ubuntu on it not so goood...... it showed me the ubuntu 12.04 thing i waited adn then it shows words on the bottom the one that i noticed first was the one that said falling back graphics and it sadi failed next to it after that it started blinking a black and white screen ...... i was bootign from the disc i made which works............. its a inspirion 1000 ....... one of the frist compus made that had xp on it so if it beaces the graphics card is to outt date plzzzzzzz tell me adn alos i have a modle newer insprion 1100 that it might run on if u think it will plzzzzzz say so if u know how to fix this plzzzzzzzzzzz tell me

Check the minimum system requirements for running Linux 12.04, then check if your old PC meets those requirements. If you don't know how to do that, try installing it on your newer computer.

Your post is poorly written. Are you sure you want Ubuntu rather than one of the more user-friendly distros that are based on Ubuntu, Mint or Zorin for example?

I assume you created the disc correctly, downloaded the 12.04 LTS 32-bit ISO from the Ubuntu site, then burned it to a DVD using ImgBurn or similar software? All you have to do is boot off the disc & allow Ubuntu to load (live session), then click the "install Ubuntu" icon on the desktop & follow the prompts.
