the gnome desktop of ubuntu is not appearing

Specs: ubuntu, i3/3gb
i have two os intalled in partition ,they are windows 7 and ubuntu.
i was using ubuntu and bymistake i have made it to hibernate,and then a login screen appeared again and now the gnome desktop was empty only with the cursor movement...
what to do to bring the complete panels and applications...

I think I'd try some combo to get to a shell. Like Alt+1 or ctr+l1 or maybe ctrl+alt+1 may bring up a shell. Then issue sudo reboot or shutdown.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
