SUMO installation on Ubuntu 10.10

Specs: Ubuntu 10.10
Dear Friends

I have been trying to install SUMO for the last couple of days on Ubuntu 10.10. I have installed all the necessary libraries and prerequisites. Although the make process of SUMO runs fine without any errors, and the sumo.gui.exe file is made, nothing is returned after typing ./sumo.gui in the sumo_installation_path/src

I would really appreciate if anyone can help me
Thanks in advance

"sumo.gui.exe "

That doesn't seem right for a linux build.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
