Solved Operating System Not found problem

October 31, 2013 at 05:44:06
Specs: Windows 7
My Sony Vaio ultrabook all of a sudden gave me a black screen with a "Operating System Not found error". I was able to boot it onto Linux Zorin OS6 Lite on a USB key, but I have not been able to access my files on my computer. I was really hoping that someone can walk me through the steps to get all my files out before I have to wipe my computer clean.

Thank you very much in advance!

The hard drive has probably failed, which would explain why you can't access anything on it with Linux. To confirm drive failure, use the drive manufacturer's diagnostic software from a bootable CD. The links are here: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm...

You messed up big time if you never bothered to back up your files every week to an external hard drive.
