Hello Everyone,

We just finish installed a novell suse v10 enterprise with sp3, all the iptables (Firewall) has been disable and no network firewall blocking any ports. How can I go about to open up the port 5000 for Sybase database to communicate installation.

Thanks,

If no firewall is running, where will you then open port 5000?
Every service, that uses any port, is open in that case.
Make sure, that you update AppArmor rules, or turn off AppArmor if it's running.

Hello Paulsep,

Thank you for your input. Unfortunately, it had nothing to do with the AppArmor. It was vendor either did not install it correctly or did not start up the db. When it is started. The process of the db automatically default to the standard of the using port.

Thanks,.

Sorry, haven't got your reply.
Did you say, that the database was not started and therefore, the port was closed?

And did that mean, that it's working now?

Paulsep,

That is correct, it is working now. The database need to start before the port is active.
