hi,
i am having problems with NFS server version 3 on RHEL4 (Nahant) unfortunately google failed to answer.nfs exports images folders in (rw) to solaris10 which run a SunOne7 Java webserver.
when opening a site from the SunOne7 Java webserver i cant see the images.
when trying to "ls" the file on the solaris10 server i get sometimes permission denied and sometimes file ordirectory cant be found, though if i "cd" to the parent directory and then cd to that file directory i will see
the file by pressing "TAB" button but cant "ls" it.
only when going to the NFS server machine and initiating an "ls" command to one of the images
files that i cant see all of the rest of the images in that page can be seen after refreshing the page.
i have enabled the following debug log command to search for any NFS errors.echo 32767 > /proc/sys/sunrpc/nfsd_debug
echo 32767 > /proc/sys/sunrpc/nfs_debug
echo 32767 > /proc/sys/sunrpc/rpc_debugbut unfortunatlly i didnt see any errors.
please note that i had a tomcat website on the NFS server that hold the same images and the same
thing happens so its not related to the client side as far as i understand.
i have also increased the open files in the machines.when running the follwoing command i am getting the follwoing nfs packages that installed.
-bash-3.00# rpm -qa | grep nfs
nfs-utils-lib-1.0.6-8
nfs-utils-1.0.6-80.EL4These are the Solaris10 errors i get

a windows users.
can it be some file locks or conflicts between the samba and NFS though i cant see any samba errors also.will thank any clue or a lead.
Thanks in advanced
My guess is a network error. Jabber card or switch set to block some traffic when some percentage reached or nic failure or backlog at server. All wild guess by the way.

thanks for the tip,
do you have any suggestion on which network packets/ports to sniff for with TCPDUMP due to the fact that port mapper assign what ever he wants?
I'd log on to the network switches if you can. They usually have some info useful. Playing to the angels
