how do i modify .bashrc file so that it disables messaging, prohibits the accidental overwrittin of files, and displays a greeting showing your login name each time you log in

Let me ask this then.

If you were in a shell, what commands would you use to do what you wanted to do automatically?

First find the command to disable messaging then no overwrite and then echo user.

Then try it in your .bashrc file or simply test it on a terminal.
