linux security question

Hewlett-packard / Hp pavilion dv7 notebook...

Specs: linux mint 8, 2.001 GHz / 6140 MB
Whenever I click on the package manager from the menu, I get the following message:

Could not grab your mouse.

A malicious client may be eavesdropping on your session or you may have just clicked a menu or some application just decided to get focus.

Try again

I don't get message if I click on the package manager button that I have on my panel. Is there any way I can check for keyloggers? Should I change my login password to package manager? Do you think I'll have to wipe my linux mint 8 distro and reinstall Linux mint?

Yeah, I'm aware of the fix from the forum, but the question I have is there some kind of security risk. Do I have a keylogger on my system?

We can't say. I'd suspect not. If you are unsure then get the latest ISO and reload the OS.

The warning seems to be a protection that was installed to warn. If you re-read jam's link I think you will find out why it issues that warning.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
