Greetings to All.
As you can see, from these friends that watch this forum, i am currently having issues with a Lexmark printer, its drivers and the lack of any support from Lexmark itself.
After doing good old research i have found that back in 2008 an individual, like myself was having issues with a Lexmark printer and Ubuntu operating system. The problem was traced back to a error in the line code that had a type-o which read as the word "ownhership". The correct was is supposed to be "ownership". This individual gained access to the line code, corrected the type-o and ran the driver software the drivers went in and the printer functioned.
Question........how do I gain access to the line code in the driver package I currently have from Lexmark, please keep in mind that even I have a hard time writing and understanding in the Linux format, so "painful" detail is needed and..........
Second, why hasn't Lexmark picked up on this type-o after all this time?
thanks to All for your time and patience
Chuck

Depends on what the typo (typographical error) is and where it is.

Post a link to the issue so we might know.

Depends on the data. Some data can be easily edited as it is plain text based. Some drivers need to be edited with a hex or other editor. It then may need to be recompiled if we are talking about source code.

According to instructions found here, you extract them with a command like this:

./lexmark-inkjet-legacy-wJRE-1.0-1.amd64.deb.sh –noexec –keep

You then edit run.lua in the temp directory that is created with any text editor. Finally, you run sudo sudo sh startupinstaller.sh in the temp directory.

Here's the latest from Lexmark
After speaking with customer service, I was told that Lexmark has no drivers for the
Ubuntu 11.04. As for a release date for the drivers..........they have no date scheduled
According to Customer Service I should keep watch on their web site for any future
releases. However, they do have drivers for the systems 10.10 and back.
With that I'm going to close this thread.
Thanks for all your help and until next time..........thank you.
