hello! i am trying to connect my 20 inch external monitor to my laptop. It works great under windows 7 but with ubuntu every time i close the laptop the laptop goes to sleep. I checked power management and there is no setting to disable or prevent my laptop to go to sleep. I am using ubunbu 10. Where's this setting located on ubuntu 10?

I'd guess it could be pm-utils or laptop mode tools. The second is not installed by default.
pm-utils I think has a script that reacts to each acpi event. You can edit it to disregard the cover close switch. Might have to install acpid too.
