Specs: linux, 16 gb
it seems like you can't understand me. what i was trying to say was that i can't log in, i am not even given the the password prompt.

example:

there is a login prompt.....

login:

i then have to type in my log name.....

login:kmabika

if i press ENTER.......

login:

it goes back to the login prompt. it doesn't give me the password:

i hope you now understand. so, it means i can not log in at all. even as root.

Can you log on in another screen? Try Ctrl -F1 or F2,3 and such for a shell.


I suspect there is an issue with the password file or some other deal. Do you have root password also? Does any account work?

I guess, that user has no rights, to login or has expired.
So you might have to login as root and change the login settings for that user by using something like usermod or chsh. depending on the Linux destro, you're using.
