I have Linux Mint 13 (Maya Edition) mounted as a Virtual machine on a VMware Player and I have successfully downloaded VMware Tools to my virtual Linux desktop and at this stage I am completely baffled.

As a new user to Linux I have no idea how to proceed. I have established that I require to be logged on as a super user and to achieve this I use the command "su - username" but there appears to be no change to my name appearing in the Terminal

What to do next in order to install the tools is a complete mystery and any (detailed) help suitable for complete noobs will be appreciated.

regards
