Specs: Ubuntu
Hello,

I have a netbook eee pc 1101 ha. I installed Ubuntu on it, but it has alot of codec problems when playing videos online. Also, the internet and sound cards would cut out randomly at times If I recall.

Anyone knows how to tweek this, or a special driver I need to install?

Thank you very much

Dump Ubuntu & install Mint 9. It's based on Ubuntu, but better. I recommend the Xfce edition.

Didn't know there are netbook editions available...that's probably a better way to go. Here's the system requirements for Mint 9 Xfce:

* x86 processor (for both 32 & 64-bit versions)
* x86_64 compatible processor (for the 64-bit version)
* 256 MB of system memory (RAM)
* 4 GB of disk space for installation
* Graphics card capable of 800×600 resolution
* CD-ROM drive or USB port

The system requiremets for Mint LXDE are even lower:

* x86 processor
* 192 MB of system memory (RAM)
* 3 GB of disk space for installation
* Graphics card capable of 800×600 resolution
* CD-ROM drive or USB port

There are a number of netbook distros. Some of them are very processor specific. You have a number of choices.

One of your issues is codecs. Ubuntu and some others do not ship the distro with non-free codecs.

Dunno about the other deals.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?

Mint includes codecs...obviously I'm a fan :)

"Linux Mint is an Ubuntu-based distribution whose goal is to provide a more complete out-of-the-box experience by including browser plugins, media codecs, support for DVD playback, Java and other components."
