is ubuntu safe to use on a laptop Acer aspire 5738G with base OS windows vista?
i want to use ubuntu and vista without any problems please help..
It should be perfectly ok if you use the wubi installer
Just download the wubi installer from here
http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-u...
and install! It shall set up everything for you to use windows and linux alongside each other!
You don't need to download wubi, it's built into Ubuntu. All you need to do is download the Ubunut .ISO file, burn it to a disc, then pop the disc in the CD drive WHILE you're already in Windows. When the menu pops up, just select "install inside Windows"
I would suggest that you consider using a virtual machine. They are free and easy to use and very safe for newbies. See vmware for the vmplayer or maybe oracle's virtualbox or MS for virtualPC. All install like any windows application. They run a software computer within a window similar to work or works or outlook. With 3 gig ram you would be fine to run 3 OS's at the same time. thats great to hear but what about drivers for the various hardware in the system
i have an acer laptop aspire5738G
Just install it & use it. If you have driver problems, THEN ask your question(s).
"what about drivers for the various hardware in the system"
boot the live cd and see if everything works, sound, network, wireless etc... then you will know if you want to install it.larry
