how to upgrade firefox in ubuntu 4.10

Specs: ubuntu 4.10
i have 4.10 for fun and it has firefox 0.9.3 on it and i want to upgrade but dont know how-thanks-

Download the source code and compile it. That's really the only way if you want to run a very old distribution. But that's part of the fun.

You didn't post your system specs but I'm curious why you're still running 4.10? The current version is 11.10. Is your system quite old & can't handle a modern OS?

I doubt you can get any sort of updates. Most of that stuff gets broken but you can sure try.

Usually the compiler needed isn't available or libraries are and you can't easily port them backwards.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

You can try enabling the backports repository and seeing if it has an updated version of Firefox. Other than that, the only thing I could suggest other than upgrading the entire distro would be to use debootstrap to create a chroot of a more modern version of Ubuntu. You could install programs within the chroot without upgrading libraries on the host system.
