This command entered in a command shell, stops the iptables firewall:
service iptables stop

This command entered in a command shell, disables iptables at boot time:
chkconfig iptables off

If you're using IPv6 firewall, the commands are as listed above:
service ip6tables stop
chkconfig ip6tables off
