.exe files are for Windows & generally can't be run on Linux. Depending on which program you're asking about, there may be a Linux compatbile version. Or you can try a program called Wine which *should* let you run the Windows program

By and large you don't. You can run many (but certainly not all) Windows programs using Wine.

However, in most cases it is better to find / use the Linux equivalent. These will generally run faster and look better than Windows programs run using Wine.

Once Wine is installed, you can launch an installer by either right-clicking and selecting "Run with Wine" (depending on your desktop environment) or using the command 'wine <programname.exe>' from the command line. Afterward, the application will often appear in your application menu just like a native application.

VirtualBox or VMWare is another option for running EXE files.
