How to I find/run an installed program?

October 7, 2010 at 21:36:34
Specs: Linux i686
I installed a program on Ubuntu Linux, but I cannot seem to find it now to run it. I used the Software Center feature to install it. It was not placed in my Applications menu, nor can I find it when I search for files with the name "scanmem".

How do I run the file I just installed?

What app?

Try "Run Program" - Alt+F2 [Put in name of app]

Try "Run Program" >"Run in Terminal" [Put in name of app]

Run the commands in a Terminal:
which [Put in the name of the app]
whereis [Put in name of app]

Remember that Linux is case sensitive and VERY unforgiving. When you put in the name of the app use ALL lower case - NO capital letters.
